Chasing Dreams Ranch didn’t start as a business plan.
It started as a calling.

What began as a pull toward cattle — especially Highlands — slowly became something deeper. There was something about their calm presence, expressive faces, and quiet way of connecting with people that felt grounding. Over time, that connection grew into a vision for a ranch built on intention, patience, responsibility, and care.

Today, Chasing Dreams Ranch is a working cattle ranch in West Texas focused on raising quality Highland cattle and thoughtfully selected Highland crosses, including miniature, micro miniature, and mid-size animals. Every breeding decision is made with genetics in mind, with careful attention to structure, temperament, and the long-term integrity of the breed. This isn’t about trends or volume — it’s about doing things the right way.

As the ranch grew, so did the desire to share what we were learning.

Education is not an add-on here; it is at the heart of why this ranch exists. We are deeply passionate about ranch education and mentorship, especially for those who are new to cattle or striving to build a responsible, sustainable program. Through hands-on experiences, honest conversations, and real ranch work, we focus on the why behind breeding decisions, animal care, genetics, and daily management. Our goal has always been simple: not just to raise cattle, but to help others raise cattle well.

Chasing Dreams Ranch is first and foremost a working cattle ranch. It is not a petting zoo or a commercial attraction. While we do offer a limited number of private gatherings and educational experiences, every offering here is designed to honor the animals, the land, and the values we live by.

I’m Martha Hartranft, owner and founder of Chasing Dreams Ranch. This ranch isn’t something I manage from a distance — it’s something I live every day. It reflects my belief that when land, livestock, or people are entrusted to you, they deserve to be cared for with honesty, excellence, and heart.

My husband, Mark Hartranft, serves as our Ranch Manager and is the steady hand behind daily ranch life. He leads animal care, maintenance, infrastructure, and hands-on operations with consistency and dedication. His care for the cattle is evident in the way the ranch functions — quietly, responsibly, and with integrity.

Faith sits at the center of everything we do. We believe this land, these animals, and every person who walks through our gates are entrusted to us. Because of that, Chasing Dreams Ranch is intentionally family-centered, alcohol-free, and grounded in creating an environment that feels safe, respectful, and peaceful.
